Long Time, No Blog

Whew! It's been a l-o-n-g time since I've blogged, but this June has just flew past. It's been a really fun summer so far. My friend from Arizona, Diana, was in town for a week in early June and this past weekend, one of my friends and old college roommate, Kim, was in town. Also, Mike and I spent a weekend camping with my parents in Cooks Forest (the picture above is of our dinner table one the nights we were there----shish kebobs and shiraz----good stuff!). Last weekend we flew down to Norfolk, VA to attend the wedding of another of my old college roommates, Phil. The wedding was very pretty, located in the Botanical Gardens and it also has a pretty lethal open bar that we all took full advantage of. In between all of this has been a fair amount of golf and laying by the pool. I hope everyone else is also having a great summer! Posted by Hello

No Heartache This Year

This weekend was the first real weekend of summer in our little corner of Pennsylvania, climate-wise. We went from wearing coats just a week ago with temps in the low 60s to the dog days of summer with temps in the high 80s, but I'm not complaining. We spent as much time outside as possible this weekend and ended up getting a little scorched as a result.

I spent Sunday afternoon planting flowers in our deck planters and pots. This year there will be no heartache----instead of bulbs I went with already bloomed annuals. Now Mike doesn't deal with me staring forlornly out at the back deck and asking him every five minutes all summer, "Do they look like they're growing? I think they're growing. Do you think they're growing?"

Saturday was also a nice day, aside from the hangover in the morning. My friend from Arizona, Diana, is in town this week and a gaggle of us went out the night before. This old body just can't hang like it used to! But Diana called me on Saturday while I was wallowing on the couch in Gatorade and self-pity and told me to "rally up". Her words of inspiration worked and we ended up having a fun girls day up in North East doing wine tasting at various wineries and then going to dinner at this little place called The Three Sails Cafe that was just cute as a button.

Chi-Town

It was a busy close to May, between spending a long weekend in Chicago, my birthday, and Memorial Day weekend. Chicago was great, as always. We spent my birthday at a Cubs game with my old college roommate Tony and his girlfriend. My birthday dinner was a hot dog at Wrigley, but that was fine by me. The only thing that was different about being in Chicago this time was that public transportation has lost some of its charm. I was more impatient with it's inconvenience than I have been in the past. Memorial Day weekend was good, we went out one night and we went to a picnic one afternoon (well, as picnic-y as a picnic indoors is), but we spent most of the weekend doing around the house catch-up kind of stuff. Now I say, bring on June! Posted by Hello
