Low Key Weekend

This past weekend was a good, low key kind of weekend. On Friday night, Mike and I ventured up to Tinseltown to see Jarhead, the latest film by director Sam Mendes (think American Beauty) starring the most excellent Jake Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard (Did I mention how much I love both of them?). The movie was great, darkly funny and really intense. The trailers and early critical reviews of the film actually were enough to lure me out to the theatre. I used to love going to the movies when I didn't care so much about movies. Now that I really love movies, I don't really like to see them in the theatre. People are too noisy and have no respect for the art or other movie-goers. However, it seems that with Walk the Line and Rent being released shortly, I'll have to find patience for the chatty soccer moms and cell-phone answering teenagers and spend a little more time at Tinseltown.

Saturday night, my folks and I went to watch Mike's hockey game. It was worth it just to be able to point and laugh when he had to do his share of time in the penalty box. After that, we all headed up to Wildcards Sports Bar and Grill to meet some more of my family, eat some grub, and slug back some $5 pitchers of Yuengling. Wildcards was actually pretty busy, which I found surprising, but maybe it had to do with the $5 pitchers of Yuengling. We've only been there a few times, but everytime we've been there we've pretty much been some of the only people there.

I don't think you can find any other area that can beat Erie's rock bottom bar prices!
