Happy Spring

Spring rolled into Erie on Sunday on a wave of fog and a coating of snow. Despite these signs that could be described as "the anti-spring", I fully believe spring is here because a bird shit on my car this weekend. Birds don't shit on people's cars in Erie in the middle winter, so that must mean that it is truly spring.

I'm looking forward to spring because spring means almost summer and summer means FUN. You may not have known this, but I am a huge fan of fun and I intend on having more of it after April 15th when I don't have to work all the time. We're already starting to plan future fun. We booked our fall vacation a few weeks ago, which is another Caribbean cruise in October and we bought tickets to see U2 in December. I know, this is a lot of really far off fun, but I'm sure there will be a lot of other fun stuff in between. Like big fun such as our summer trips to Chicago and New Orleans, camping, and my friend Phil's wedding. Or small fun, like sitting on the back deck one evening after work some night in June, playing 500 rummy with Mike and sipping on his amazing margaritas.

Woo hoo! Spring!

Horrified Yet Again By The King

The other night I was watching for the five hundreth time the new Burger King commercial with a Blowfish-less Hootie (a.k.a. Darius Rucker) strumming the guitar in a stupid cowboy costume thinking once more how low his career must have sunk that he was reduced to a Burger King commercial. Imagine my horror when Mike says, "Hey! Isn't that the creepy King you don't like in the background?" And sure enough, he's there, waving in wooden-faced glee and pushing some girl on a swing in the background. Here I had thought I'd never have to see him again.

You Know When...

You know when you've married your soul mate when he buys you a dozen roses, a tee shirt that says "Fact: Clowns Eat People", and a tee shirt that says "I Heart Monkey Business" that has a picture of a chimp in a business suit pecking away at a computer. It was a most excellent Valentine's Day this year.

YAY!

YAY! I know two "yays!" may be redundant, but I can't emphasize how happy I am to have a weekend off from work. This is the first weekend since about the first of the year that I've had off, and Mike and I are going to spend it skiing with our good friend Heather (by the way, HAPPY BIRTHDAY HEATHER!) and her family at the Peek. I really can' t think of a better way to spend a free weekend, especially after the week of snow we've had. The only other way to spend a free weekend that may be better would be to sprawl on the couch for two days in my pajamas under my favorite blanket eating nothing but gummi worms and watching all the Sex and the City DVDs. But believe me, skiing all weekend is up there. I hope everyone else has a great weekend, too.
