2nd Annual Penn State Game

I've gotten away from posting anything because we've been super busy the past couple of weekends. Here is a picture from the Penn State vs. Michigan State game that we went to on November 20th in State College. It was our 2nd annual gathering of alums for a game day. We're hoping to keep up the tradition. Some things were different this year, such as all the new faces that attended and the fact that I wasn't the only female this year. However, other things remained the same, such as Tony's 20 mile walk back from the bars downtown to the Autoport at 2 in the morning. In mid-debauchery and in various degrees of drunkeness from left to right are Jen, Phil, me, Mike, Heather, and Tony. Posted by Hello

The Post-Vacation Blues

It's so hard to believe that just three weeks ago, we were boarding the ship, heading out on vacation. This picture of the Explorer of the Seas is courtesy of my dad. My tan's already gone and I'm back to thinking about work more than I should. I guess that means it's time to start planning our next vacation! Posted by Hello

Coffee and Cigarettes

Last night, after Mike prepared an amazing dinner (god, that man can cook), we headed over to our friend Heather's with a DVD we rented that we had all wanted to see, Coffee and Cigarettes. It was a full length movie in black and white comprised of about 10-12 cinematic vignettes that really had nothing to do with each other besides of course the common theme of coffee and cigarettes. It was chock full of a really random assortment of people, such as Steven Wright, Roberto Benigni, Jack and Meg White of the White Stripes, Iggy Pop, Tom Waits, Cate Blanchett, Bill Murray and Alfred Molina. Can something be interesting and not very good at the same time? That is kind of how I would describe it and I wouldn't really recommend it.

Three Days Later...Still Pretty Bitter

I don't know how to not feel bitter. It's three days after the election results, and I'm still as upset at the first day. I thought maybe I was overreacting and just had to give myself some time and then get behind the President in his unification effort. But after what he said today, I'm not sure that it is possible:

"I earned capital in the campaign, political capital, and now I intend to spend it...I'll reach out to everyone who shares our goals...When you win, there is a feeling that the people have spoken and embraced your point of view, and that's what I intend to tell Congress" (Erie Times News, 11/05/04, page 4a).

How should I feel unified? The way he states it, you are either for him or against him, and if you're against him, you're SOL. Number four on his two-term agenda is opening Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge for oil drilling. How sick is that? I'm still broken-hearted.

All I can say is thank God for Arlen Specter. As the appointed head of the judiciary Committee, he basically said today he is going to be completely bipartisan. I know Specter has been a thorn in the side of the Christian Right and the right wing conservative republicans, and that is precisely why I vote for him. He is refreshingly bipartisan.

My Hope and Optimism Bit the Big One

So much for having hope and optimism, eh? I can't believe because of all the morons in the midwest who don't believe in evolution, we're going to be subjected to four more years of Bush. It was hard to watch John Kerry's concession speech, especially when he became a little emotional. I think it's terrible that the media seemed to be badgering John Kerry to concede the win as early as 4 am this morning. I just don't know.

Go Vote!

It's Election Day and I am very excited to go vote. My husband and I are heading to the polls after work and then to a Kerry Election Party where all of us respective Kerry-voters can bite our nails together. I have a lot of hope and optimism today, which is a good way to feel going into Election Day. I hope everyone goes out and votes today.
