Chicks Rule

Tonight I went golfing with my dad and husband after work at Brabenders, a little nine-hole course near my office and I had a better score than both of the men! Yay! I had a 48 tonight, while Mike had a 51 and my dad had a 50. That scorecard is definitely front and center on my refrigerator door. Even though I may have scored lower than the men, I cannot boast the best shot tonight. That belongs to my dad and his incredible chip into the cup on the first hole. The three of us go golfing after work at least one night every week all summer and tonight was probably the best golf weather we've seen so this summer. It was a beautiful evening.

Wicked Garden

I'm getting to be pretty bummed out all as a result of my flowers. I was really excited this spring about buying deck planters and bulbs and as our beloved Riehl Gardener says "making my garden beautiful"! Unfortunately, my little deck garden is not beautiful. It could be more accurately described as "non-existent". I have tall, rapidly growing flower stalks but still no flowers. No lilies, no irises, no freesia. Just tall weed-like green stalks. I just recently found out (yesterday) that my poor flowers may not grow at all this summer, that bulbs usually don't flower the first year. All those afternoon pep talks I gave those guys the past two months were wasted!

Biker Mama

We just got back from spending a long weekend at the Jersey shore with my husband's family. This is a picture of me on my stepfather-in-law's brand new Harley. I told Mike I look way too good on one of these not to have one! He doesn't find that very funny. Posted by Hello

Those Sneaky Bastards

We had a really good time camping in Cook's Forest this weekend and luckily saw no rain. The first night was really damp and cold, as we arrived and set up just after they had been hit with bad weather all day. However, Saturday afternoon and night the weather was great, mid-70s and sunny. I did what I do best when I'm camping-----SLEEP! And of course eat a lot of good food that's really crappy for you. The one thing I learned this past weekend is that the raccoons are getting much sneakier. One of the sneaky bastards we encountered this weekend was so skilled, that we didn't even hear him until he was jumping OUT of our Jeep with our entire bag of marshmallows.

Raccoons, Squirrels and Bears...Oh My

Well, my husband and I are gathering the provisions and crossing our fingers for sunny weather since we are heading to Cook's Forest after work tomorrow to camp all weekend. We have packed all the required camp food such as the makings for s'mores and hot dogs and of course, gummy worms! We're really excited because we both love to camp and we really didn't have many opportunities last summer because we were so busy planning our wedding. Actually, our favorite camping season is the early fall because it's usually cool, the leaves are changing, and the campground is EMPTY to the point where at night it's a little eerie.

Damn That VickiG...

Damn that VickiG and her excellent reading recommendations! It was because of her and her literary advice this past year that I picked up a Margaret Atwood book for the first time, the book being Cat's Eye. It wasn't too long before I finished that and picked up two more, The Blind Assassin and Bluebeard's Egg. She's turned me into a definite fan. Boy those Canadian women can write! Anyway, since I didn't have any big plans this weekend, I thought I'd pick up a new book since I'd have ample time to read without distraction, so I chose Margaret Atwood's The Edible Woman. Boy, was that a mistake! It's fifteen minutes until my usual beddy-bye time, I've read three chapters, and I'm not sure if I'll be able to put it down.
